Some of the ideas discussed in this blog are published in my new book called "The Stonehenge Bluestones" -- available by post and through good bookshops everywhere. Bad bookshops might not have it....

The BIIS / Celtic Ice Sheet -- a new resource

One of the maps from the updated content.  It's no more "correct" than any other map, but one of the nice things about this web site as a teaching resource is that it accepts that there are multiple opinions on all manner of things, and multiple scientific disputes.

I've mentioned Antarctic Glaciers.org before, but it's good to see that its coverage of the BIIS / Celtic Ice Sheet has been greatly expanded in recent months to the point where it is a very good and comprehensive teaching and research resource.  Here is the link:

http://www.antarcticglaciers.org/glacial-geology/british-irish-ice-sheet/introduction-to-the-last-british-irish-ice-sheet/

To navigate around the relevant parts of the site, use the navigation bar on the left.  There is also a very good reference list -- bang up to the minute.

Among the authors are Bethan Davies, Andy Emery and Sam Robertson.

There are even some animations included, with a lot of hyperlinks too.  Recommended!
