How much do we know about Stonehenge? Less than we think. And what has Stonehenge got to do with the Ice Age? More than we might think. This blog is mostly devoted to the problems of where the Stonehenge bluestones came from, and how they got from their source areas to the monument. Now and then I will muse on related Stonehenge topics which have an Ice Age dimension...

Very high waterline: Seems strange that they would be transporting sarsen sized polystyrene blocks from Wales back in 2400BC?
;-)
Jeebus! There is SO much wrong with that! I've never seen a bluestone that size and they don't seem to know that the Bristol Avon doesn't go to Stonehenge!

There is a theory that since the 'Neolithic Revolution' our society is getting dumber as each generation has progressively falling 'I.Q.' levels.
I think you have found in this Daily Mail article and it's readership, absolute proof of that hypothesis!!
A log raft would be the easier, more stable and the best method of transporting those 'tiny' 4 tonne stones.
The course would be direct as indicated (more luck than judgement from the articles author) for the Thames, Kennett and Avon were 10 times larger in the Mesolithic Period, than today (Sidell, Wilkinson, 2000 - which consequently, re-dates Maddy et al, 1991, Avon River Terraces).

Even I think Mikes comments are 'unqualified', especially after he published your letter last month.

Oh God -- I couldn't bear to watch it again. far too depressing. Yes, I had noticed that MP has also been infected by this strange disease that seems to reduce the capacity for rational thought.....
