Of course we all know that most academic archaeologists are just as virtuous as the rest of us -- and so they are clearly right to be upset by what they see as unreliable narratives. But there is a certain irony, I think, in the fact that some senior archaeologists (who shall be nameless) are themselves masters of the dark arts of promoting wildly unreliable and complex myths in the media and pretending that they are true......
How much do we know about Stonehenge? Less than we think. And what has Stonehenge got to do with the Ice Age? More than we might think. This blog is mostly devoted to the problems of where the Stonehenge bluestones came from, and how they got from their source areas to the monument. Now and then I will muse on related Stonehenge topics which have an Ice Age dimension...
