Tor survival under cold ice


This is reproduced from the QRA members circular -- worth reproducing because it's a great photo and a tidy summary of cosmic bombardment and the dating method.

The photo won 1st prize in the 2020 photography competition run by the QRA.

Derek Gabel was supposedly involved in similar investigations at Craig Rosyfelin, but any results have never been provided.

You mean Derek Fabel. I never did get to the bottom of what happened. But I gather that there never was a proper sampling programme there, designed to answer key questions -- and that the "big slab" was the only thing sampled. There was a rumour that the rhyolite was "not suitable" for the method proposed, so it was then assumed that any results would be unreliable. Very convenient......
