How much do we know about Stonehenge? Less than we think. And what has Stonehenge got to do with the Ice Age? More than we might think. This blog is mostly devoted to the problems of where the Stonehenge bluestones came from, and how they got from their source areas to the monument. Now and then I will muse on related Stonehenge topics which have an Ice Age dimension...
THE BOOK
Some of the ideas discussed in this blog are published in my new book called "The Stonehenge Bluestones" -- available by post and through good bookshops everywhere. Bad bookshops might not have it....

Apologies!
Apologies to all who have sent in comments in the last couple of months only for them to disappear into the ether. I have been doing some research at this end, and have found some "lost messages" in a box called "Pending" -- which I never look at because it is the place where spam is dumped. Normally, when a bona fide comment is posted, Blogger sends me an Email with the comment on it, and I approve it by clicking on a "publish" link. For some reason I haven't been getting these Email notifications -- I shall check with Blogger as to the reason for this.
Anyway, the ones I have found have now been posted -- I shall continue to search for others. I wonder if I have been hacked?
The joys of technology.......

Well, I'm glad you got that sorted, Brian, if only partially for now.
Hacked? Maybe, but I'm starting to understand how malign forces can suppress unwelcome new and/or iconoclastic thinking in a manner that does not involve hacking, so much as rendering invisible or nearly so on the internet. I'll say no more for now, except to say it involves more than one of those so-called "internet giants" acting in concert, forever looking for new ways to profit-gouge, to massage their bottom line via 'approved' bloggers' copy.
Forgive me using this opportunity to give a link to my latest posting (posted just yesterday, summarising my new, ever more strongly-articulated ideas re Stonehenge and its real purpose):

You won't believe the performance I had simply getting a specific URL for that posting, one whose keywords stand a chance of appearing on search-engine radar, as distinct from the non-specific generic site title. Indeed, one's latest posting titles disappeared from a major search engine's returns some years ago, requiring that one constantly re-word supposedly peripheral tag lines simply in order to be "seen". Where there's a will...
I'm thinking of resorting to an older alternative to the internet, one that was a common sight and sound in my childhood - a loudspeaker van through the streets!

Isn't there a story of a ship in the frozen north where it was so cold, even the sound froze. But after it thawed, all the comments made by those who thought they would not be heard, gradually came out of the ether.
Sorry for anything I may have said!
Dave
Quite so, Dave. Gradually I am releasing everything from the ice -- sorry if I do not manage to respond to all of the comments right now, since there is a limit to the number of things I can concentrate on at any one time...!!
