Llanychlwydog rock ridge, Cwm Gwaun

I have referred to this ridge before as being located at "Pengegin" in the Gwaun Valley.  It should more accurately be referred to as the Llanychlwydog rock ridge.  It's a bit of a mouthful I know, but accuracy is always a good idea.  Grid reference:  SN032339

As we can see, the ridge is about 10-12 m high, and it runs along the south side of the road very close to the primary school shown on the map.

As at Rhosyfelin, it is a ridge separating a small meltwater "distributary" valley from the main meltwater conduit.  I wouldn't mind betting that the sedimentary sequence here -- including accumulated rockfall debris or scree -- is just the same as it is at Rhosyfelin.  If the archaeologists had had any sense, they would have conducted a "parallel" dig here, just to show that there really is something unique about Rhosyfelin, relating to the selection of bluestones........  That would have been the scientific thing to do.
