The Waun Mawn fantasy dig resumes

Prof MPP is advertising for more diggers for the 2021 dig, which will take place between 29 Aug and 17th Sept this year.  According to an appeal for volunteers published on the Bluestone Brewery blog, a few extra helpers are needed:

The dates for the dig are Sunday 29th August - 17th September 2021
(all days except Saturdays unless making up days lost to bad weather) and we are only able to take volunteers who are double-vaccinated and prepared to take lateral flow tests at various points during the three weeks.

More information will be sent out once people are signed up but it may be useful to know in advance that cars are to be parked in the large car park at the old pub at Tafarn y Bwlch and we will lay on a shuttle service to bring people to the excavations. As well as stout footwear and weatherproof clothing, volunteers should bring a 4" pointing trowel (The best are WHS made by Spear & Jackson).

We can take those with no archaeological experience but preference will be given to those who have some.

This suggests to me that Waun Mawn is not going to be the main digging site this year -- since you do not need shuttle buses to take you from the Tafarn y Bwlch car park (built for the planned Visitor Centre)  to the purported site of MPP's "giant stone circle."  They need some evidence from Waun Mawn, and will be desperate to "find" it.........but where else will they be digging?  Rumour has it that they will be looking for more "quarries" ---  they have already invented two, and now maybe they want to invent a few more.  Watch this space.......

Spot on, Tony. A friend of mine was sacked from the dig a few years ago because she was too sceptical, and asked too many questions. Says it all.........

I recently learnt of a gentleman whose wife told me he will be part of this Preseli dig. I later found out he has a First Class Archaeology degree from Reading,, but he didn't carve out a career in that profession. Now, in his middle age, he is enjoying all things Stonehenge and presumably that has included all things professed by the UCL professor. I hope he somehow hears about this blog site and/or considers Brian's point of view on The Stonehenge Bluestones. It's a never too late to avoid blinkered thinking and chasing after red herrings.

Last but one line in my last Comment should have read: "and/or considers Brian's point of view IN his book "The Stonehenge Bluestones" (2018).
