I drove past Waun Mawn on the way to Haverfordwest this morning, and saw that digging work is under way both at Waun Mawn and at the "newly discovered" embanked circle at Gernos Fach. But people seemed to be very thin on the ground -- there just seemed to be a small handful involved. Now news comes that MPP and the rest of the management team are desperately short of diggers, because of Covid-related constraints on the student population this year. So they are sending out a plea for volunteers to come and dig for a day or for any amount of time that they can put in.......
Would I advise anybody to volunteer to help out? Given what we already know about the methods used thus far by this group of archaeologists, I think you already know the answer to that one.......
Diggers? Well wasn't "digger" a frequently - used nickname given to Australians? Mind you, Australians are usually pictured as no - nonsense straightforward folk. Would they work for Pearson?
ReplyDeleteI was sorry to hear today that one of the diggers broke her leg the other day while working at one of the digging locations. I really hope that they managed to get her to hospital quite quickly, and that she is now recovering well. It's horrible when something like that happens -- with no warning -- when somebody just slips or stumbles over a stone.
