The Curator, Trustees and Management Committee of the Bluestone Museum in Cilgwyn, Pembrokeshire, are delighted to announce a new acquisition which is now on display. Occams Razor was purchased for an undisclosed sum, with the help of the National Lottery, the Science Museum and a single generous donor who wishes to remain anonymous. The authenticity of the razor has been proved through DNA analysis of minute fragments of stubble stuck beneath the blade, which have been matched precisely with the chin of Mr Fred Occam himself. So valuable is this item that the Museum has had to install bullet-proof glass and a full 24-hours surveillance system.
What about BECKHAM'S Razor?....the best a man can get??!

ReplyDeleteYes, one has to try and keep a sense of proportion. So let's escaope from all this seriouhsness now and then. In a world dominated by famine, refugee crises and climate change, the bluestone debate is a matter of profound insignificance. So who cares anyway, whether MPP is right or wrong? It's just a harmless academic argument about a pile of old stones. But then I think that hey, truth and honesty do matter -- and when we see lies and fraud in an academic context, and people getting away with it, it means that academic standards are slipping and that the light is being dimmed. So yes, it does matter after all.........
ReplyDeleteShouldn't it be Bill Occam (William of Ockham), not Fred? Let's hope that, in the words of MPP regarding the Boles Barrow piece in Salisbury Museum, it has not been "hitherto wrongly identified"!
ReplyDeleteBugger! Have we been conned? The chap we bought it off, for an undisclosed sum, said Fred was the man. Are you saying that Fred was Bill's disreputable brother, or something? Was he the one who sold second-hand cars down Clapham way?
