Pentre Ifan reconstruction



A reminder of this CGI video -- thunderously overblown, but impressive nonetheless.  Done by CADW.  From 2014 -- so it has been around for a while.  I think that the link should allow you to go to the BBC page and watch the video.

It shows the portal dolmen structure pretty well, with the large open forecourt at one end and the elongated (long barrow) mound at the other end, sloping gradually down to the ground.  The assumption is that the mound was used as a ramp for moving the large capstone into position on top of the uprights.

  1. Very impressive video. I wonder if there is any evidence that it looked like this, or whether there are similar monuments elsewhere. I don't have a clue myself.

    These days we don't need experts as long as the drum beat is sustained. Quite fun!
