Sorry for recent inactivity on this site -- I have been rather busy trying to earn an honest living! I'm involved in a big new "literary tourism" initiative, trying to promote the area in which the 8 novels of the Angel Mountain saga are set -- with a lot of liaison involved with the local authorities, tourism operators etc. Big launch in Newport on 3rd April.
In the meantime, if anybody wants to spend a little while doing our fun quiz, have a go! You never know, you might win a gigantic prize!

I got 15 out of 24. Very sneaky quiz where you had to use deductive reasoning as well as local knowledge. some were pure guesswork.
ReplyDeleteIs there any connection that many of the locations also feature regularly in this blog?
Dave
That's not bad, Dave! Every location has features in the photo that are recognisable, and are not replicated elsewhere. But I agree you have to know N Pembs REALLY well to get all of them right! No guesswork needed......
ReplyDeleteAll just a bit of fun. Of course some of the sites are well known to faithful blog followers. No coincidence there...
They are very cleverly put together, the photographer (and team?) need to be congratulated.
ReplyDeleteNo sure about the guesswork, that one in the woods with a moss covered wall and gatepost? You'd have to spend a lot of time wandering in the woods to know that.
I have to admit I've never read any of the books. I'm tempted to now, seeing the photos, seems a bit like Hardy's Wessex, of which I'm familiar with both books and landscape. Perhaps you need to push a 'Far from the Madding Crowd' type of film.
Dave
Steve Mallett is the photographer, Rhiannon James is the model, and I chose the quiz pics. Those who really know the woods and know the novels will know that location....
ReplyDeleteFilm? TV series? We are working on it.....
Observant bloggers will not have failed to notice that the stone in this photo is a rather fine standing stone -- one of a pair, used as gateposts -- very close to Garn Ffoi, on Ffordd Bedd Morris, Newport. I have featured these stones before on this blog. They are dolerites, with very well worn edges -- so I think they have been affected by ice.
