The consent was issued a week after the application was received -- so that leaves virtually no time for consultations or the canvassing of opinions. Maybe the phone was picked up and opinions sought that way? One would have thought that PCC, PCNPA, RCAHMW, Wildlife Trust, Cadw and Dyfed Archaeology would all have a valid input. Note also that no explanation was offered or asked for on THE PURPOSE OF THE EXCAVATION. Am asking some more questions......

Richard Vaughan, the National Park ranger, was involved in some way in the dig -- maybe he had a watching brief....... but NRW seem to have had no involvement apart from issuing the consent.BRIAN JOHNhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00413447032454568083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1228690739485734684.post-63152152181922970952018-10-14T23:44:14.140+01:002018-10-14T23:44:14.140+01:00So Cadw, RCAHMW and the Dyfed Archaeological Trust...So Cadw, RCAHMW and the Dyfed Archaeological Trust were all not consulted for their views. Neither, it appears, were they heard to make any general public comment. They thus appear to be both apathetic and impotent at the same time. Christopher Catling holds a high position within RCAHMW. He is also Contributing Editor at the magazine Current Archaeology, where he often comments upon matters in Wales in his "Sherds" column. I find it surprising and disappointing that he hasn't chosen or bothered to make any comment on what was to happen at Waun Mawn during September 2018 in either of his two roles, i.e. his journalistic one or from his vantage point at RCAHMW. Shall I cancel my subscription to that magazine? - I think so.
TonyHnoreply@blogger.com
